    NOAA Fisheries Internship Program

    Summer science internships are available through the NOAA Fisheries Internship Program (FIP) to qualified recent graduates interested in ocean science and conservation. In addition to earning a competitive salary and academic credit, interns gain valuable hands-on experience through the FIP. There are only a limited number of internship positions available each year, so the application process is competitive. Bachelor’s degrees in marine science or a related field are required, along with five years of professional experience and an understanding of data analysis and statistics.

    Prepare and upload the following documents to the site:

    • An essay describing your interest in the Lapenta internship and your past experience in the area of your interest. Describe your interest in NOAA’s Offices, Centers, and Labs.
    • Applicants should prepare a curriculum vitae (CV)
    • Transcripts (unofficial is sufficient) from your university

    You must submit two letters of recommendation. One reference must come from an academic advisor or professor. Depending on your abilities and interests, your second reference may be an academic reference or a character reference.
